LCCI

Hong Kong Government and the London Chamber of Commerce & Industry International Qualifications (LCCI) signed an agreement in 1994 to set up the Hong Kong Vocational English Programme (HKVEP). LCCI was selected as a partner because of its experience and expertise in the field of language skills assessment and its ability to offer international recognition to participants in English language courses benchmarked to the HKVEP.

From its creation in 1881, the London Chamber of Commerce recognised the need for improved commercial and technical secondary education alongside advanced foreign language courses. The Commercial Education Committee of the London Chamber of Commerce was appointed in 1887, and the first LCCI examinations were held later that same year.

The London Chamber of Commerce & Industry International Qualifications (LCCI) has 5000 centres in over 100 countries.

LCCI merged with Global Online Assessment for Learning (GOAL plc) in 2002, becoming a part of  Education Development International plc (EDI), a 'leading provider of vocational qualifications and online assessment solutions'.
